SD is expected to save Alingsås Konsthall – Göteborgs-Posten

Alingsås Konsthall is threatened with closure because of the strained economic situation. Boris Petrusson (SD) is expected with its balance of power determine the art gallery’s fate on Monday evening board meeting.

Boris Petrusson (SD) gets its pivotal role it determines the question of Alingsås Konsthall future. The red-green in Alingsås of cultural and recreation committee chairman Lena Klevenås (C) in the tip contend for a closure, and the evening gathering Board politicians to decide.

The Board consists of six red-green politicians and six from Alliance and a Sverigedemokrat and both Alliance politicians and Sweden Democrat Boris Petrusson has announced to vote to retain the Art Hall.

– Yes that’s right, I will vote against the closure, said Boris Petrusson when the GP gets hold of him Monday.

Boris Petrusson has been in cultural and recreational activities since February 2015th

– I have deliberately listened to the different blocks during the process, felt for, read me . Now I have come to the conclusion that if we do not keep art allen now where it is, it will probably disappear. There is great risk that it will be so so therefore I am against the claim.

Will reopen in the spring

The art gallery has existed in Alingsås cultural center since 2004, shown many acclaimed exhibitions. February 1 closed the Kunsthalle in connection with the arts center would be rebuilt. After the renovation is the plan to the Art Hall will move down from the third floor to the ground floor to be more accessible. Next spring, it is thought that it will reopen.

Future exhibitions are planned and the contract has already been written by an artist who started working on an exhibition for the spring in 2016.

– We continue business as usual until we have received a formal decision, says Anna Mighetto, head of the Alingsås Museum and Art Gallery. If the politicians will reach a decision on the closure, we get to work for it. But personally, I think it would be very sad.

The proposed closure comes from Lena Klevenås (MP), Chairman of the Culture and Leisure Committee which considers that the culture budget is insufficient to operate the Art Hall and at the same time take care of museum collections.

– The background is the strained economy. We have planed and planed. We lost two million in that we control with the Alliance’s budget just like in parliament and it was there that triggered the discussion. We are facing a reconstruction of the culture house and then there was a chance to change the content.

Half a million to save

This issue has been investigated by the management of culture that emerged that there are half a million dollars to save, but it is doubtful whether the funds can provide the same effect for Alingsås that when they fund an art gallery. Management’s proposal is that the closure is not implemented.

Anna Mighetto argue that the money you would save on closing down the Kunsthalle still would not be enough to cope with museum activities.

– It becomes two bad solutions. We get a stadium less in Alingsås and we solve still work with our collections. Then one can have a lot of opinions that you put down a well-functioning and well-visited art gallery.

Empty offices in Nolhaga Castle

Lena Klevenås says that art Alingsås not need a gallery to display. One suggestion she has is to instead use the municipality’s empty space in Nolhaga castle.

– I am not against art. It’s very sad to be regarded as not interested in art. But we do not have the Kunsthalle in the arts. Now it will probably remain there, and it’s an unfortunate decision. It would have been more fun with Nolhaga castle, which stands empty.

Culture and Recreation Committee vice chairman, Staffan Albinsson (C), it is obvious that the Alingsås will have its art gallery there.

– A city of our size should have the ambition to attract people, to have an art worthy of the name. We have been unsympathetic and are confident that we will be able to afford an art gallery.

Neither Staffan Albinsson or Boris Petrusson think that the proposal to Nolhaga castle is realistic.

– Not with the economy we have, says Boris Petrusson.
