Foreign Ministry does not agree with media managers criticism – Radio Sweden

Today, the Swedish-Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak imprisoned in Eritrea for 14 years. But now, because a large number of editors that the Swedish government must do more to secure his release.

They demand that Sweden abandoning the quiet diplomacy and also demanding to visit Dawit Isaak. Anna Björkander is Acting Head of Communications at the Foreign Ministry. She does not agree that Sweden does not do anything and says that neither has been silent.

– I do not agree that we have not talked about what we do. Sweden has many times reiterated the requirement to visit Isaak in prison. We have been told that we have a broad dialogue and talks with Eritrea and we have also explained why we can not go into everything we do. We have to take into account privacy and Dawit Isaak’s life and health, and opportunities to get him free, she says.
