Young people’s own refugee gala a success – Göteborgs-Posten

During the Saturday evening underway mini Gala An evening in the alley at Vallgatan 9 in central Gothenburg. With live music, art exhibitions and soup kitchens, funds are raised to UNHCR’s refugee work.

Behind the event is cultural collective Luminous and municipal Leisure in the center.

– We sat and tossing around different ideas for events and exhibitions at a coffee shop. It was just the beginning of a refugee crisis and we thought it would be fat to do something to try to help, says Louise Waldenby at the Leisure center.

Said and done. In the alley on Vallgatan 9 has fixed a scene on top of a garage roof, where Echolalia, MIRA and the Inventor of the universe plays in the evening. In addition, an ongoing art exhibit, and visitors can buy soup, popcorn and coffee. All the money coming in goes to the UNHCR.

– And so no one is illegal here, and exhibits and talks. It is easy to feel that it is difficult to know what you can do to help, then they have plenty of tips, says Louise Waldenby.

It has come a stream of people in the evening, she says.

– All who are out shopping Christmas gifts walks by and hears the music and the opportunity to check out what’s going on.

The evening ends 22:00 when the permit expires out. But the event has a taste for more.

– Oh, yes. We’d love to do it again, says Louise Waldenby.
