Best director has died – the Express newspaper

the Oscar Andrzej Wajda, has passed away.

He was 90 years old.

The Best Polish film director Andrzej Wajda has passed away. The death was confirmed to the AFP news agency. Andrzej Wajda was 90 years old.

the Film director was born in 1926 in Poland. He received jurypriset at the Cannes film festival back in the year 1957. In their films has film often portrayed Poland’s contemporary history.

The acclaimed film director has directed more than 40 films during his 60 years long career. Andrzej Wajda received an “honorary Oscar” for his life’s work in the year 2000. His films have been oscar nominated several times.

Among his works are, among other films, “Katyn”, “Ashes and diamonds”, “Järnmannen” and “Walesa”. His last film, “Powidoki”, was shown during the film festival in Toronto, Canada, just a month ago. It has been selected as Poland’s candidate for the category of “Best foreign film” at the Academy awards in 2017.

Andrzej Wajda passed away on 9 October. After he leaves his fourth wife, Krystuna Zachwatowicz, and a daughter, Karolina. The cause of death is not known.

Filmregissörens’s passing has touched many, and among them Poland’s former prime minister Donald Tusk wrote about the death on Twitter.

“We are all with Wajda. We looked at Poland and of ourselves through him. And we understood better. Now it will be more difficult,” he wrote on Twitter.

Andrzej Wajdas colleagues in the film industry will remember him with warmth.

” He was one of Poland’s greatest artists, one of the most famous in the world. Poland was his passion, ” says the Polish film director Jacek Bromski, poland, TVN24, according to the BBC.
