STOCKHOLM (AFX) Picasso's painting "Les Femmes d'Alger (version O)" may be the most expensive ever sold at an auction. The market's estimate in advance is that the painting be sold for USD 140 million, equivalent to approximately 1.16 billion.
 It writes CNBC's online edition.
The painting is from the artist's kubistperiod and was created in 1955. What is not included in the price estimates in advance the Commission of just over 12 percent. If the painting sold at auction firm Christie's valuation would go for over $ 155 million and thus beat the current auction record which is $ 142.4 million - a sum that was paid for Francis Bacon's "Three Studies of Lucian Freud".
Last "Les Femmes d'Alger (version O)" sold at auction was in 1997, when the painting was sold for $ 31.9 million.
