“Schrei nach Liebe” (“A cry of love”) was released in 1993 by the band Die Ärzte as a protestlåt toward the future wave of neo-Nazi violence against immigrants. The song heckle “stupid fascists” whose violence is really only “a cry for love.”
Since Germany again suffered xenophobic violence took a music teacher initiative campaign, where he was exhorting people to download the song digital and pray radio stations to play it.
The success is said to be unprecedented in German-strip history, and neighboring countries also depends on – the song is number one also in Austria and number two in Switzerland.
The band behind the success say they do not want to cash in on the success, without giving away all the proceeds.
