Kanye West’s latest album “The Life of Paul” did not follow the classic pattern when it was released, and it seems to have paid off. The disc is now the first album ever to be number one on the prestigious Billboard charts thanks to, or despite, the almost exclusively been available via streaming services. According to The Guardian, the majority of the sales of the disc, 74 percent, from streaming services.
The album, which is the West’s seventh solo album, the premiere was played at a fashion show in New York on 11 February. Then released it on the streaming service Tidal and his website, and later made it also available on other major streaming services.
The record company Def Jam has also announced that more “new updates and versions” of the disc will be released in the spring.
