Music
A radio recording from 1966 with the jazz pianist Jan Johansson will be released on disc in the autumn or around New Year, writes Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.
The gig in question took place at Liseberg. Gilbert Holmstrom’s quintet stood on stage together with guest soloists Rune Gustafsson, Jan Johansson.
The recording was discovered by some musicologists in Gothenburg who dug the Swedish Radio archives. According to them, the music sounds more like “brötig 60s jazz” than something like Johansson’s “Jazz in Swedish”. In addition to Gilbert Holmstrom’s compositions can be heard even hitherto unknown Jan Johansson original.
Jan Johansson’s sons has given the green light to the release, which will be made on Litter Jonas Hammar Moserobie label.
