The color choice of flowers and balloons are in most cases purple, a reference to Prince’s biggest hit “Purple Rain”. The city Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges writes on his blog that it’s different for accommodation in the city, where the Prince was born and grew up, than in the rest of the world.
