Warsaw. The controversial Polish media law is already in force, but that did not stop thousands of protesters to gather in Warsaw and other Polish cities on Saturday.

At 14 o’clock filled the open area between the National Bank and the Polish television’s offices .

Telewizja Polska (TVP) has become a focus for debate on the new law. It was passed the day before New Year’s Eve, signed by the president last Thursday and came into force on Friday with the government appointed journalist Jacek Kurski new television director.

 
        
             

     
     
 

– He was my boss when I started as a journalist 25 years ago and I remember he criticized me because I had asked uncomfortable questions to politicians. I fear that there could be so now in Poland, said Dorota Warakomska, one of the many speakers who followed one another on stage during the two-hour meeting was going on.

The engineer Jerzy Kuchynski experienced time during the 80′s and was in place even on Saturday.

– Although the law already in force, it is important to show that not everyone is behind it . There may be only fifty percent who voted in the election.

Then the Poles blame themselves?

– There are many who repent in the day that they did not vote, thought the 76-year-old engineer.

The average age of the meeting was remarkably high.

– The young are not aware of the dangers that lurk. They live in a bubble and engage in other, said Joanna Augustyn, doctoral and 26 years.

Employees in TVP building opened the windows to hear what was said in the square, “came to us,” chanted the participants and soon reached one of the speakers of a text message from the TV house with the words “we are with you”.
