There will be no statue of lady with handbag.
Culture and Leisure in Växjö took the final decision today.
The image of the woman strikes a neo-Nazi in his head has become iconic, but the municipality stopped the statue on the grounds that it symbolized violence rather than discussion.
The woman with handbag named Danuta Danielsson and became known throughout the country after having been photographed in the context of a neo-Nazi march in Växjö, 1985.
In the picture wielding Ms Danielsson, whose mother was sitting in a Nazi concentration camp, her purse in the head of a neo-Nazi.

The artist Susanna Arwins clay figure of the lady with handbag was supposed to be erected statue in Växjö. It was stopped by Eva Johansson (C), chairman of the Culture and Leisure Committee in Växjö.
– The Nazis conducted a lawful demonstration. They had permission. Vaxjo is a municipality of freedom of expression. We are a haven for persecuted writers. Then we should not encourage the use of weapons against opponents, said Eva Johansson told Aftonbladet earlier this week.
Relatives reported to have been in touch
Today decided therefore culture and recreational stopping the erection of the statue.
According to Swedish Radio Kronoberg so voted the Social Democrats, formerly of the statue, now received. The reason must have been a relative of Ms Danielsson heard of and expressed the wish that the statue would be stopped.
Växjö Municipality’s decision has sparked protests. Several other municipalities is now supposed to compete to get the statue to his city.
