AARHUS The Danish poet Yahya Hassan , which in 2013 made the sensational breakthrough with the collection Yahya Hassan , was arrested yesterday on suspicion of shot a seventeen year old in the foot.
In a detention hearing in the Aarhus City Court on Monday announced Hassan that he considers himself innocent. The district court, however, decided to detain Hassan in the four weeks the investigation should continue.
Sjuttonårigen has spoken out in an interview with Ekstra Bladet, where he says he does not understand why Hassan shot him.
Yahya Hassan breakthrough was only 18 years old with a collection of poems written in capital letters, among other things depicted his childhood in the suburb of Aarhus V. the text attacked both his parents’ generation immigrants and Islam, which resulted in that he received from criticism, and both attacked and beaten. The poems caused great debate in both Finland and Sweden, and in less than a year was Hassan one of Denmark’s best-known public figures.
More recently , the poet caused a stir for several reasons . After being arrested for drunk driving in February this year, he was thrown out of the newly established National Party as he started to get involved in. The party promotes greater tolerance for immigration in Denmark.
In conjunction with the event, he interrupted an interview with Danish TV2 with the words “fuck off with all your bourgeois piss and all your hoaxes”.
