Kjell Albin Abrahamson died Thursday at a hospital in Gdynia, Poland, in the aftermath of a stroke.

Kjell Albin Abrahamson was born in 1945 in Östersund, sweden. He worked during the 1970s as the dramaturge on the SVT, and during the 1980s as the director of cultural affairs at the Swedish Radio. Best known for the public, it is enough, however, as Swedish Radio’s longtime Östeuropakorrespondent stationed in, among others, Moscow, Vienna and Warsaw.
for years, Kjell Albin Abrahamson also julvärd in the radio P1, and also jumped in as a presenter in the “Ring P1″.
He began on bbc Radio in 1983 and worked there for a total of 21 years. Sveriges Radio’s ceo Cilla Benkö says to TT that Kjell Albin Abrahamsons’s passing is a great loss, not only for his immediate family, but also for the Swedish Radio.
” He was a classic really good radioreporter. A journalist who was passionate about his subject and wanted to make people wiser, which he also managed. He was skitduktig simply, says Cilla Benkö.
Abrahamson wrote also a number of books, most of Eastern europe.
In a självförfattad presentation on Swedish Radio’s website, he wrote that he had been called “Sweden’s best correspondent” but that was not the case.
“I shall content myself with other fun nicknames like ‘a saltkorn in the Swedish sötlimpan’”.
