Lindgren Niklas Lindgren has been at the monastery.
During the six days he will participate in a “brief retreat” on the notorious prison monastery in Kumla, as reported Aftonbladet.
– The time in the monastery is a building block to get to know himself, says Margareta Säfwenberg, consultant for the spiritual care of prison.
The monastery inside the walls of the largest prison with the highest classification is unique in the world. Aftonbladet has previously told how serious criminals and life-sentenced there to participate in a 30-day program where they, among other things, must wash each other’s feet, experiencing Jesus’ passion, writing letters about his thoughts and then fired up – for most of the time in complete silence .
It was previously known that several famous prisoners have been at the convent, among others, John Ausonius, Jackie Arklöv and Niklas Lindgren.
Should have returned
Niklas Lindgren was arrested in 2006 for a series of brutal assaults against women in Umeå. He called Haga man for the district in which the crimes were committed. Lindgren was sentenced to 14 years in prison for attempted murder, aggravated rape, rape, and attempted rape.
Now, Lindgren returned to prison monastery. According to information provided to Aftonbladet, he takes part in a six-day retreat.
– We never talk about individuals, I do not want to talk about who is here or not, says Boel Marie Lennartsdotter, priest and retreat leader.
– It is not unusual to come here more than once. The more you come here, the deeper you get into itself. One sees love and love makes wonders. In a meeting with an angel can change in a second, but the therapy can take years.
Living in Silence
The prisoners involved in kortretreatet live in silence for most of the time .
– You get texts from the Bible and other texts to relate to. You get in touch with their own feelings and memories of what they experienced. It is a get to know programs. It can make a safer so that you understand yourself and to love themselves and others, says Boel Marie Lennartsdotter.
There is no evidence that the time in the monastery have positive effects.
– You can ask themselves to what extent they should experience religious visions in a secular prison. But as long as it is done on a voluntary basis, I can imagine that it should have been, says criminologist Jerzy Sarnecki.
“very positive”
Lena Roxell at the Institute of Criminology at Stockholm University working with a report that will evaluate the business.
– Overall, the participating very positive for the business. It is interesting to see, she says.
