Diesel Fragrant action movies do not usually stand in high regard at the Cannes Film Festival, but now celebrated director George Miller for its sense of authenticity, drive and especially feminism.

70 -year-old, Australian director met the press in Cannes surrounded by its stars: coveted Tom Hardy (“Child 44″) who stepped in Mel Gibson’s old motorcycle boots, Charlize Theron (“Prometheus”) who plays the rebellious, slot heroine furious and Nicholas Hoult ( “About a Boy,” “Warm Bodies”) who makes a revolting foot soldier with skull and crossbones look.

Cannes festival’s legendary moderator Henri Behar flying start press conference by asking about “Mad Max: Fury Road” is a prof mini-Semitic movie (and excused himself quickly that it was a “very French question”).

– There was no feminist agenda from the beginning. But there was always a story on women’s theme, says George Miller.

– Even when I started working with the film 12 years ago, wanted to make a film that was one long chase – and that the hunt would shop if people who sought a place where they got to be people and not just objects, says Miller, whose own tagline for the film is “real people, real cars, real desert”

It was there Charlize Theron came into the picture. Miller needed a “warrior”, and it could not be a man who would take five wives from another man, it would not feel genuine. And it could certainly not be Mad Max himself.

– For me, Mad Max a wild dog, fighting to be free. The meeting between him and furious, first trying to kill each other and then must pull together, is really the essence of the story, said Miller, who also gave instructions that one should ignore the chronological thinking and see the fourth Mad Max movie as an episode in the wandering anti-hero’s life in a post-apocalyptic world.

The likeable George Miller with round academics glasses in poppy Orange also made a nifty homage to his accompanying wife and editor Margaret Ann climber – she has never before worked with the action movie – which cut together all the giant material of several hundred hours of film.

– Margaret asked me why in the world I wanted her to cut the movie. I replied that if I had picked up the plain kill the gang as the film had seen on the action movie any time, Miller said lovingly and even told the wife said that her most important job was to “prevent him from making himself a laughing stock”, prompting journalists from all over the world laugh.

Tom Hardy, as many critics already written, ports in the shadow of the powerhouse Theron with Butch, blackened face and iron gaze, told me that he was both delighted and frightened by the offer to play Mel Gibson’s old parade role.

– I realized that many felt that the role was synonymous with him and that “if it’s not Mel It’s not Max,” but George wanted me to bring something new to the role, says Hardy who come to Cannes with the same crew cut as his female co-star is in the movie and a real beard.

Charlize Theron said she saw great potential in the role of the woman in a “Mad Max” film, she had heard about it long before the offer came, but felt even substantial doubt about the outcome.

– It is not always there will be as expected. I have worked long and my cynical I looked up now and then, but George made me never disappointed and kept what he promised on the role. It was fantastic to play in that gigantic sandbox while getting to be a woman and not try to imitate a man, surrounded by other women, it felt genuine simply said Theron.

For anyone wondering on the bizarre and slightly ridiculous heavy rock guitarist, who sits as a figurehead of the speeding vehicle column and excites the wild ride with hysterical hard rock chords, said Miller:

– It is quite logical! There is war music. Throughout history, wars have always been accompanied by music, such as drums, trumpets and more. With all the cars in this film as needed electric guitar and mighty big speakers, ha ha. But since everything in the film also need to have a dual function as works guitarist also like flamethrowers, says Miller, who also call their way to make films for “visual music”.

Asked if he was already thinking of more Mad Max films accounted director in line with women’s theme in his films:

– Please, I feel like a woman who just managed labor and just given birth to a very large baby. It is like asking a new mother and she immediately wants a new baby!
