Katja of Sweden was the entire Swedish fashion designers, and not least the MMT:s in Malmö, sweden.
Malmö Mechanical Tricotfabrik was founded back in 1892 in order to manufacture lingerie, in a rented room in the Little Kvarngatan. The year 1898 was a completely new factory building finished on Rönneholmsvägen (today between Kronborgsvägen and Västra Rönneholmsvägen). When the first world war broke out in 1914, was the workforce of over 300 people at the factory, which was called the Trikåtan.
During the mellankrigsåren the business grew. In the 1950s, the Swedish textile industry hard hit by increased imports from abroad. But MMT showed good, thanks be to the company, and in 1954 scored to a successful and profitable cooperation with the world famous klädesdesignern Katja Geiger.

in the Year 1961 was bought MMT on the back of faltering MAB & MYA-the group and the cooperation with Katja Geiger became more and more strained. In 1975 she broke her all interactions with Areco. As long as the contract was continued MMT to manufacture clothes under the brand Katja of Sweden another year before they closed for good.
