Asghar Farhadi is boycotting the Oscars – Aftonbladet

‘m not going to go – even if he is allowed

Asghar Farhadis film is oscar nominated but Donald Trump’s new ban has threatened the director’s galabesök.

Therefore he has decided to boycott the ceremony completely.

– I hope that the current situation is not going to do so that more gaps between nations arise, he writes in a statement to the New York Times.

Nöjesbladet has previously reported that the iranian director Asghar Farhadi run the risk of not being able to go on the Oscars where his film "The Salesman" is nominated.

In a statement to the New York Times announces Asghar Farhadi, now, that he does not intend to be present at the gala, even if he would be allowed.

According to Farhadi, he had planned to go at the gala, where they express their opinions on the ban. Now, however, he has changed and want to boycott the gala because he believes that the new ban has created a "we and them"perspective.

"To get people to feel fear is a tool to justify extreme and fanatical behavior of narrow-minded individuals," he writes.

He also writes that he condemns what has happened.

Earlier, Taraneh Alidoosti, one of the actors in "The salesman", announced that she will boycott the gala because of the ban.
