Swedish video games are action movie – Västerbotten Courier

The Swedish-developed video game “The Division” is heading to the big screen, and the project has been with Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain, according to The Wrap.

the game’s distributor Ubisoft confirms the news in a press release:

“We look forward to working with Jessica and Jake, two of Hollywood’s most talented actors,” greets Gerard Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures .

“the division” is set in New York after the city quarantined because of the deadly smallpox.

after a few misguided attempts at the 1990s ( “Street fighter” “Super Mario Bros.”) is a video-game films thus back in earnest. In January, Ubisoft’s “Assassin’s Creed”, with Michael Fassbender in the lead role, premiered in 2018 with the launch of the new “Tomb Raider” movie with Alicia Vikander in the lead role – to name two examples.
