Swedish Zara Larsson was nominated in the breakthrough category at the prestigious gala MTV Video Music Awards – but fell at the finish line early in the morning Swedish time.

Celebrities like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Rihanna and a number of other artists were in place when the giant gala MTV video music awards went in again at Madison Square Garden in New York on Sunday night Swedish time.

Zara Larsson was most excited to see their idols who were at the gala. On Twitter, the singer wrote:
“I’m honestly most excited to be in the same room as Beyoncé tomorrow.”

However: at 05 o’clock Swedish time, it was clear that Zara Larsson could no longer take the win in the category. The winner was instead US DNCE, with Joe Jonas at the tip. Other nominees in the category were Bryson Tiller, Desiigner and Luke Graham.
