Orchestra with women were not allowed to play – Vasterbotten Courier

Tehran Symphony Orchestra was stopped from performing at an Iranian sports events on Thursday. The reason was that female musicians playing in the orchestra.

The conductor Ali Rahbari was told that they had to play 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

– I was offended and said that it is impossible for me to accept such an insult. Either we all play together, or we go, said Rahbari news agency Isna.

According Rahbari thought the organizers that it was absolutely impossible to allow women to play musical instruments on stage.

This is said to be the first time that an appearance of the venerable symphony orchestra has been set with reference to the orchestra, female musicians.

This past year, several artists said that the short notice has been stopped from playing in Iran, despite they had official permission.
