The Alliance decided on Friday to adjust its cultural budget. The big loser – the country’s cultural journals. They may namely take the hit when the cutback of 15 million mainly in supporting cultural magazines while literature support for book publishers are protected, writes dn.se.
– There is a staggering blow. In total, the support of 19 million so almost all disappears. It can mean a mass mortality for magazines, says Siri Reuterstrand, president of the Association of Swedish culture magazines, TT.
Culture Committee chairman Per Bill (M) justifies the decision for DN:
– There are two worthwhile causes and when savings are to be made, we think that literature support is higher on our priority list.
According to Siri Reuterstrand involves some 100 journals that receive grants.
– We knew that there would be a run-down but then it was said that it would be spread out over the magazines and literature support to publishers. This is a cold shower, she says.
