Hermès takes away from crocodile farm – Vasterbotten Courier

The fashion company Hermes does not use leather from unethical slaughtered crocodiles to their Jane Birkin handbags, said Hermès in a press release.

Artist Jane Birkin announced during Wednesday she asked Hermès remove her name from their Birkin handbag in crocodile skin, called “Birkin croco”. Her request was then animal rights activists made the British-French singer and actor mindful of how crocodiles slaughtered when their skins to become bags.

“Jane Birkin’s comments do not affect in any way the friendship and the confidence we shared for many years. Hermès respect and parts of Jane Birkin’s emotion and shock were also of the photos recently circulated, “reads the press release.

The fashion company emphasizes that the crocodile farm that is visible in the video, as Birkin had access to, not a of their suppliers.
