– It is a huge honor just to be asked, says Malena Ernman, who did not have a particularly long reflection to accept the offer. Fifteen minutes or so.
– I was out walking with Moses (the family’s golden retriever) when they called from the TV, she says and stresses that it tends to be “men over 60″ who gets the assignment to read this classic poem.

But no rule without exceptions. The first was Margaretha Krook, although she was 72 years old when she stood on the Solliden stage to read the well-known verse “Call, Clock, call “the first time in 1997. Margaretha Krook read the poem three more times. She died in 2001. Her predecessor Jarl Kulle read “Ring Out, Wild Bells” until 1996. He died the following year. Kulle representative Georg Rydberg was the first to read “Ring Out, Wild Bells” of television (1976). He continued until 1982 and died two months later.
Therefore, the question must be addressed to Malena Ernman – have you signed a contract for life?
– We have just spoken about a year, so we’ll see, she says and laughs.
When DN interviewed Malena Ernman before the 45 anniversary November 4 she told me that she has chosen to put her international career on hold and only occur at home. Right now she is busy preparing for this year’s Christmas show, together with Lasse Berghagen so there is much to be plugged in and repeated.
Malena Ernman says she easier to learn music than lyrics, but are not anxious about the mission, attracts millions of Swedes to the TV sofas. She has had time to rehearse and it remains after all seven weeks of New Year’s Eve.
She says she’s a little jealous of her daughter who learn the lyrics in no time, but she will have to study at the classic text every day.

– I sit alone at home and read, but it echoes so strange, she says. It gets better when I come out and microphone.
What does the poem “Ring Out, Wild Bells” for you?
– Very. It is a burning text and it feels perhaps more than ever, she says. I will read it in my way.
Last year was read “Ring Out, Wild Bells” by loa falkman, Malena collaborated with the opera “Xerxes”. Loa had some problems with the timing of last year.
Is that something that concerns you?
– No. We have a plan, but I reveal to the press conference tomorrow.
What were your plans for New Year’s Eve before you were given this offer?
– Not at all. We usually stay at home and take it easy on New Year’s Eve, she says.
But little bubbly at midnight usually well be anyway?
– No, not really . We usually have gone to us so daily.
