Roy Andersson joy after the Golden Lion – Gothenburg Post

From Venice to Toronto. The joy of winning the Golden Lion is still in when the director is on the way to the next film festival.

– This beats most, says Roy Andersson.

There has hardly been a day ago, Roy Andersson had to get up at the Venice Film Festival’s stage and hold his acceptance speech when GP reaches him. He has just passed hem the airport check-in and waiting to fly to the next film festival in Toronto. The price for the movie A pigeon sat on a branch and pondered existence has a staff taken care of and packed into his suitcase.

– Venice has been an absolutely fantastic experience. Feels like I won the Giro d’Italia cycling, concludes Roy Andersson.

The 71-year-old director is the first Swedish received the prestigious Lion of the jury.

Afterwards waited congratulations, tributes, interviews and receptions. Most seem happy Roy Andersson of spontaneous tributes from people on the street.

– Especially when young people show their appreciation and say that they have been inspired by my work, he says.

Celebrations ended with a party that he left about two o’clock at night. To relieve a cold and wind down before bedtime Roy Andersson took a few glasses of whiskey. Then he fell asleep as Hammered ox, completely exhausted.

What does the price for you and the Swedish film?

– I’ve got an energy boost and feel a great desire to work on the next film. The plot is secret because I want to surprise. However, I can tell you that I’ll be more wild than before and that the film should preferably be completed in four years.

– I think my success will influence Swedish film. Swedish Film Institute’s goal is for us to be strong cards on festivals, better than this could hardly be.

In Toronto there are no prizes to win for the Swede. At the festival, it now only works that have world premiere that will compete. Roy Andersson’s film premiered in Venice.

– Unfortunately, the rules are such. On the other hand, I can relax and just enjoy getting involved.

What happens then?

– When I’m home again in three days so I’ll take time off and rest … at least for a week.
