DN-employee Lena Andersson’s book “arbitrary decision” issued in English is hailed by the British newspaper The Guardian. Now waiting for a launch in the United States.

Lena Andersson’s “arbitrary decision” is one of the later years of the most celebrated Swedish novels. Now spreading wave of success abroad. In a lyrical Review notes Julie Myerson on the prestigious The Guardian that she never read a more cunning and amusing depiction of the worn subject blind love.

Myerson says, like many others, that the recognition factor is painfully high. She also says that the book’s subtitle, “a novel about love,” is possibly misleading. In fact, it is a story of shame.

Lena Andersson very happy praise.

– She has done a wonderful read. Something that pleased me was that there were no elements of exotiserande. She treated it as an English book. There is something special about the book is published in English, it means some extent that anyone can read it, says Lena Andersson.

in England “arbitrary decision” given the title “Wilful disregard”. Precisely this, to formulate an English title, was a process that took a long time says Lena Andersson publishers Jonas Axelsson at Partners in stories.

– We lived a long time with “Arbitrary conduct”, but then it became “Wilful disregard “, says Jonas Axelsson and points out that the sequel,” Without personal responsibility, “so far lacks an English title.

Lena Andersson , has not been involved in the naming process, but says “Wilful disregard” is a relevant and adequate title. She also points out that the British edition’s cover captures the book well with its austere design.

– Many countries have tried to present the book as a love story by putting a woman who looks lonely on the cover. Then perhaps the longing for a love story will be disappointed and will miss the one intesserad of a deconstruction of love. This is actually a slim book that has become wide. It’s a bit weird actually, says Lena Andersson.

“arbitrary decision” is currently sold to 17 countries, including Germany and Spain. The criticism has generally been very positive. Jonas Axelsson says the paperback edition of the book in Norway is also well on its way to becoming a bestseller.

Next Step in the overseas launch will be the world’s largest book fair.

– The book will be released in the US later this fall, says Jonas Axelsson.

On September 11 is the premiere of a stage interpretation of “arbitrary decision” at Uppsala City Theatre, directed by Karin Parrot Jonzon.

The next book from Lena Andersson teaches, however, linger.

– I have not had time to collect myself for a long time, says Lena Andersson, who believes that one of the paradoxical consequences of being successful as a writer is that you do not have time to write some new books.
