Drug offenses may affect Ewald’s US venture – Aftonbladet

Anton Ewald has pleaded guilty to drug offenses after taking cocaine.

Now, the dream of the United States crushed artist who risk denied admission.

– I am ashamed that it happened and I regret that it happened, he says about the crime in TV4′s “Nyhetsmorgon”.

In an interview TV4′s “Nyhetsmorgon” on Monday revealed the Anton Ewald , 21, that he will be convicted of minor drug offenses.

He has pleaded guilty and will therefore receive a punishment . The offense should have taken place two months ago.

– I would enter the studio and be creative and drove me both cocaine and marijuana. A few hours later the police came to the neighbor complained about loud music. The thought we had a party, and so we were frisked and had to do pee test and it became questioning, he said.

“I made a stupid choice”

In the interview he says that he smoked grass earlier but it was the first time that he took cocaine.

– I have never advocated drugs, and always distanced but on this particular evening, I made a stupid choice, he said.

Ewald has previously told you about the dream of a US career and today released the song “Higher”, a collaboration with DJ Mirko B. It is hoped that song, played on the radio in the United States, should be able to get him established in the US market.

Can denied entry

In the interview, he tells us also that he plans to go to the US this summer. The trip is part of the US effort but drug crime can destroy the chance to do public relations, working in the studio and play on American soil.

Aaron Honn, spokesperson at the US Embassy in Stockholm, would not comment on individual cases but explains that the Swedes – as part of the Visa Waiver Program – normally only need to apply for admission to enter the United States.

But the offense makes Ewald likely be denied entry. His fate may be decided by an officer at the embassy. The regulations can be denied admission to apply for a visa at the US Embassy.

– At the interview for a visa, a consult to determine whether an applicant is eligible to receive a visa to the US, said Aaron Honn, spokesperson of Embassy.

The Swedish lawyer Jan G Johansson is the number of years worked in the US and works with visa issues.

“In brief looks at whether the offense reaches the level of the ‘Moral turpitude’ (moral turpitude, reds. Note.). It is judged from case to case: if it is a first time offense or not, if the illegal substance was for personal use or sale and

how much substance involved. It is considered serious enough, it can cause a person denied a US visa, “he writes in an email.

” We are awaiting the verdict “

How the work in the US will look like concretely is currently unclear and depends on how good the song “Higher” yesterday, according to Ewald’s manager Magnus Enbacka.

– Meanwhile, we seek to find new music. So there is nothing specifically what comes after this but just that we are working on finding the best song to go with the United States. Getting the right song does not necessarily done on site. It sent songs back and forth all the time. Today it is just a file removed, he said.

There is no explicit strategy for how to deal with potential barriers to enter the country.

– It has not fallen into condemnation yet, so we do not know yet. We are waiting for the verdict and we’ll take it from there, says Enbacka.

Do you think there is a risk that this could affect US-bet negatively?

– I hope not. We focus on making such good music as possible. That’s what we do in the present situation, he said.

Anton Ewald declined to give further comment.
