Emmylou Harris has lent his vocal harmony across genre boundaries – Aftonbladet

I had liked country for quite a while before I really cared about Emmylou Harris . I thought she lacked what drew me to country music: Dolly Parton Energy and låtskrivargeni, Loretta Lynn anger and humor, sense of both shamelessly sentimental and raw folk who was not breathing ethnography or the hippie culture.

Emmylou Harris was sheer and delicate, a cool perfection. She came from a musical wave in the 70s who crossed the country music with alternative rock and singer songwriting and took it to the middle class. Not so interesting, I thought.

But so went I am on one of her legendary concerts at KB in Malmö around the millennium. I saw tears roll along the cheeks of men in leather vest and cowboy hat and I understood why. It was so beautiful.

Emmylou Harris finds that few other country music sensitivity and highlights its rich musical nuances. Where others get it to swing she gets it to shimmer, with his soft voice and his famous vocal harmonies. It has she lent to a variety of collaborations across genre boundaries without ever losing its identity, and she made other people’s songs to his. Especially in recent years, she has also written some really good yourself.

You think what you want about bombastic award ceremonies. It is certainly a great musician who is now assigned to the Polar Music Prize.
