The money control – which is why Telia The row over soon – Aftonbladet

With a vocabulary drawn from the labor market, SBS Discovery triggered a general strike. Telia has responded with total lockout.

Between them sits customers in the vise.

Just before Easter, a big TV weekend, got Telia’s TV customers informed that SBS Discovery’s channels are no longer going to look at Telia network. The reason is a conflict between them. In the SBS range includes Channel 5 and 9, Eurosport, Animal Planet and Discovery.

One might think that it is bad manners by Telia not in good time to talk to tell you about changes in channel offerings for its customers. There are many who think, judging by the comments in social media.

One can also find it rests a special responsibility on a great player in the TV area, which is 37.3 percent owned by the Swedish state . That, of the two reasons, to behave not only juste, but a little fairer than the competition.

But you can also see it as unusually tough weapons picked up for a difficult negotiation.

SBS Discovery wants more money from Telia for their programs. Telia do not want to pay. It says, however, none of the parties to the point. Instead clothed conflict into mumbojumboord as “package kanalser” and “channel package”.

But what is at stake is a classic conflict that the labor market has special rules. First portends compartments (SBS) on strike for better conditions. Thereafter, the employers (Vodafone) with a lockout because the extra cost that the strike will apply to shove them down the abyss.

It is rarely true, and it’s probably not this time either. For the most part becomes the conflict nor particularly prolonged because both sides are losing money. Big money for those who lack substantial buffers.

In this conflict, it is likely that a party will lose more money than the other. SBS with its many channels are losing viewers when Telia’s 700,000 residential customers drop out. It reduces interest in advertising in the channels which is expensive.

Even more expensive can in the short run be on SBS to repay ad money to advertisers. The agreement usually goes out on the advertising site promises a certain range for the ad. Not reached the goal, the advertiser some of the money back.

This is probably why Telia’s so cocky. They know that they have an economic advantage and that SBS may be forced to fold down.

Follow the money, said the protagonists in the film about the Watergate scandal. Like, it’s the money that counts.

It is therefore likely that the conflict will soon be over, Telia’s customers get back their channels and SBS are paid less than they wanted.

Come remember where you read it first.
