100-year-old Piaf hailed in Paris – Swedish Dagbladet

– You must continue, says singer Malene Lamarque, performing Piaf songs every week on a of the city’s many cabaret premises.

According to her, Piaf songs been of great assistance during the period following the terrorist attacks.

– They have given joy and fellowship but also comforting, she says.

Le Bataclan, the site for the bloodiest attack, was also a concert hall where Piaf herself appeared.

The celebration will continue until the New Year in different parts of the city. In St. Jean le Baptiste church where Piaf was baptized, held an exhibition and concert in her honor. Praises, however on a smaller scale compared to when the 50th anniversary of her death highlighted two years ago.

Edith Piaf (1915-1963) is known for songs like “La vie en rose” and “Non, je ne regrette rien “.
