Bob Burns died after a single vehicle accident in Georgia.
Bob Burns was one of the original members the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. He played in the band when it was formed in the late 1960s and starred in the first albums in the early 1970s.
Bob Burns was 64 years old. According to Aftonbladet, the accident occurred in Cartersville, Georgia, where Bob Burns alone in the car collided with a tree and a mailbox.
On Lynyrd Skynyard Facebook page writes Gary Rossington, guitarist who along with his friends Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins founded the band, Bob Burns was an amazing drummer.
“Today I have a hard time finding the words, but I remember Bob as a funny guy. He was so funny, he made us laugh all the time, he was groundbreaking.” Writes Gary Rossington as well.
Bob Burns left Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1974 and was replaced by Artimus Pyle. When the band was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, he reunited with them for a gig.
