The director compartment Directors Guild of America (DGA), which has compiled figures showing that 6.4 percent of the films directed by women. Among the films that earned ten million US dollars or more, the figure was 3.1 percent.
Furthermore, states DGA’s investigation that, of the 376 directors who made films from 2013 to 2014 it was 12.5 per cent of them of minority origin.
– These figures show that women and minority directors in principle excluded from this multi-billion dollar industry that has a great economic and cultural impact on our global society, said Todd Holland at DGA.
The report does not include non-American films, documentaries, animated films and reissues of older movies.
