Bad timing for the FIFA film premiere – Västerbotten Folkblad

Entertainment News. The timing could not be worse. Only days after the International Football Federation president Sepp Blatter announced his resignation had the feature film about Fifa US premiere in Los Angeles on Friday. The number of visitors? Two.

Fifa has partly funded the “United passion,” which depicts the union’s 111-year history. And although the film with Tim Roth in the lead role, touches the corruption allegations against Fifa made the organization especially in a positive light.

The criticism has not been long in coming – The New York Times believes that the film is so unbearably bad that it can not be seen, and calls it “a dishonest attempt to corporate restructuring that are not even good for a laugh”. British The Guardian is on the same line and writes that the film is “a disgrace”. Many critics have also mockingly sights set on the 79-year-old Blatter is portrayed by a 25 year younger man (Roth).

The interest in the film of the audience also appears to be minimal. At the very first screening of the film at the only cinema showing the Los Angeles area showed only the two moviegoers. One described themselves as football supporters, and the other was most curious about the commotion surrounding Fifa.

It was on Wednesday last week that seven high-ranking football leaders were arrested in Zurich at the request of US authorities on suspicion of corruption and bribery among otherwise in connection with the election of host countries for the World Cup in 2018 and 2022. Since then, a series of scandals revealed, and on Tuesday announced Sepp Blatter that he resigns, but stays until the new election of the chairman during a special congress sometime next year.
