Gothenburg investigating shoddy artist agreement – Göteborgs-Posten

The program of summer entertainment in Gothenburg is clear, but the management of culture has a lot to sort out with shoddy contracts, false certifications and unclear directives.

Summer entertainment includes as usual a mix of music, dance and children’s theater with free admission. Some points have already been felled. A large part of the program available at the Villa Belparc in Slottsskogen. There occurs such as Eric Gadd July 11, Arja Saijonmaa July 26 and Sarah Dawn Finer July 30th. Other scenes are Slottskogsteatern, Gardening Association and the city square.

But many of the agreements between the management of culture and artists have proven to be unclear.

– It was not the commitment that the parties had, or what that would apply in the event of dismissal. It was, in some cases, contracts written by a layman, says cultural affairs director Anna Rosengren, who reacted when she would sign a contract proposal.

The management of all contract templates will now be reviewed by the city’s legal department. Summer Entertainment financed with money from a foundation, but also there are ambiguities. Cultural Department has been tasked by the Board to “urgently review the summer entertainment focus.”

– There are currently no written directive on the alignment. The Board must now decide on this at its meeting in August.

It also shows that employees in management certified each other’s bills instead of turning to the Head of Administration which has led to an internal investigation concerning the arrangements for certification.

– Errors committed in the management of culture and should be corrected. This is something that we take seriously, says Culture Committee Chairman Mariya Voyvodova (S).

None of this, however, affect this year’s program.
