Regional Cooperation save for Röhss? – Göteborgs-Posten

Design Professor Tom Hedqvist leave Röhsska Museum which he may continue to lead.

– If the city of Gothenburg is now so proud of its museums and Röhss – are they really prepared to sell us out then?

Tom Hedqvist decided to leave her position earlier than expected when he was asked to instruct the culture of Administration Anna Rosengren if appropriate qualities of his successor.

It all started with an email before a working lunch. Hedqvist lost Rosengren asked to reflect on the “profile” a suitable replacement would have. For Röhsska chief information came as a bolt from the blue. He said that if his services were no longer desirable so wished, he quit with immediate effect.

On May 31, he left also Röhss, with concerns about the museum’s future.

Anna Rosengren explains decision To recruit with Tom Hedqvist reached retirement age.

– His appointment expires in 2016. As he turns 68, I saw it as a natural opportunity to find a replacement who can work more long term with a solution for museum .

But Tom Hedqvist had reached retirement age already when he was recruited?

– Yes, but it was Bjorn Sandmark who did the recruiting. I see Tom that very competent, but he fills as I said 68.

The Ministry of Culture at short notice, without notifying Röhss, withdrew the museum’s national network assignments are beneath contempt, according to Tom Hedqvist. They apologized when he rang up, is not much plaster on the wound.

– It is very badly run.

Although the national task in the future may lie in Stockholm, after the merger of Arkdes and Modern Art, it should not have been lifted from Röhss without any reason, believes Tom Hedqvist.

– We have not neglected our commitments.

contrast, believes he museums in Gothenburg is severely underfunded, and has been so for many years.

– We have not received much support at Röhsska under my leadership, financially , moral or artistic. Now is the time for the City of Gothenburg will follow suit. If they are so proud of its museums and over Röhss – are they really prepared to sell us out then?

The same frustration is noticeable at several of the city’s museum directors, who with trepidation following the investigation of future financing models GP yesterday could tell.

– The current situation, with allocations that are not listed, are unsustainable, says Isabella Nilsson, head of the Gothenburg Museum of Art.

– We have high self-financing ratio and budget covers only part of the policy objectives imposed upon us. We need reasonable conditions in order to accomplish our mission.

Bear Sandmark are , currently CEO of Gothenburg City Theatre, , which is also involved in the investigation of ownership . Although he bears witness to the erosion of the theater’s economy during the past three years.

– I note that the list was too low to cover the theater’s costs for increased wages and prices.

The GP has taken note of a draft regional culture plan 2016-2019 published on 9 June. Where are presented under the heading Architecture, shape and design thoughts on establishing a regional architecture and design center “represents a national meeting place”. The idea is also setting up a Regional Art Council: “Western Swedish building art 2.0″

– I can not imagine anything worse than a Regional Arts Council, said Tom Hedqvist.

Why ?

– Röhss and Art Museum is run today with great excellence. The risk is that a Regional Arts Council enables people without the skills to sit and decide, while those who know what they do not get dominion over their own operations.

Staffan Rydén, Head of Culture for the Västra Götaland do not agree . He sees no danger that excellence should be watered down.

– I would rather speak of a redemption. Röhss has untapped potential. The core business may seem wider by regional cooperation.
